PRIVATE CLINIC FOR Anxiety disorders

You are not alone with your fears

Fear is part of life. It is a natural, physical reaction that is intended to protect the organism from danger: It helps to be cautious when necessary. However, if it becomes excessive or inappropriate, it may be an anxiety disorder. Such a disorder is often accompanied by other psychological indications, such as persistent stress, and leads to considerable suffering for those affected. A vicious circle of fear and avoidance can develop, which determines the entire life – and is very difficult to break alone. In our private clinic we support you in overcoming your fears, for a free and self-determined life!

Common anxiety disorders

Anxiety disorders can be divided into two groups based on their triggers: Phobias form the first group. Here, the fears relate directly to an object or a situation. The second group consists of diffuse or non-specific fears, such as panic disorder. Here, the anxiety disorders do not arise due to a specific trigger, but occur unexpectedly.

  • Panic attacks: Sudden and unpredictable anxiety attacks in the form of panic attacks.
  • Agoraphobia: Fear of places/situations, such as large crowds; they often occur together with panic attacks.
  • Specific phobias: fears of certain things or situations, e.g., fear of flying, fear of heights etc.
  • Social anxiety disorder: fear and strong insecurity in contact with other people.
  • Generalized anxiety disorder: constant, worrying thoughts and persistent fears, for example about one’s own future.

Anxiety disorder symptoms

  • Cardiac problems such as palpitations
  • Sweating
  • Tremors
  • Difficulty breathing, feeling of anxiety
  • Drowsiness, fear of dying
  • Feeling of helplessness
  • Feeling of not being in control of one’s thoughts and body

In addition to the above symptoms, there is often a strong avoidance and/or safety behavior. This means that the affected person avoids fear-inducing situations or, in the case of agoraphobia, for example, only visits the fear-inducing places with another person. This can lead to severe restrictions in all areas of life.

Causes of anxiety disorders

Anxiety disorders arise from a complex interaction of various factors. Various aspects are mentioned in research, which have, for example, biological, genetic or social origins. For example, education may also be involved in the development of anxiety. Therapeutic views represent different perspectives on the development of pathological anxiety. For example, behavioral therapy assumes that these fears arose as a result of certain learning experiences. Psychodynamic explanations attribute the development of anxiety disorders to earlier conflicts or traumatization.
